Warner, always known for its vacation appeal for both summer and winter visitors through the historic ski trains which came up from Boston, is ideally situated in central New Hampshire. At only 15 minutes from the capitol and the Sunapee recreation area, and one hour from the coast and mountains, the village remains committed to promoting and preserving its quiet charm. The Maples at Warner is located within the historic village and you will find many Warner sites within walking distance or a short drive. Rollins State Park is situated on the south slope of Mt. Kearsarge. A 3 1/2 mile long scenic auto road rises from the park entrance through woodlands to the parking and picnic areas. The picnic area, located in a natural wooded glen beneath granite ledges, is historically referred to as the "Garden". It affords views that stretch from Mt. Monadnock to the hills of New Hampshire's coastal plain. The summits of Pack Monadnock, Crotched and Uncanoonuc mountains, the hills of central Massachusetts and the Boston skyline are visible on the horizon, while the Mink Hills and Merrimack River Valley can be seen nearby. A one-half mile trail to the summit of Mt.Kearsarge leaves from the picnic area.
The New Hampshire Telephone Museum is located within walking distance from the Inn. Their fascinating collection of telephones, equipment and tools begins with a replica of the very first telephone, which carried inventor Alexander Graham Bell’s words to his startled assistant Thomas A. New London - 10 minutes north of Warner (Exit 11 & 12 off Rte 89), home to Colby-Sawyer College, has a charming village filled with fine shops, art galleries and restaurants. Winslow State Park - located on the northwest slope of Mt. Kearsarge in Wilmot, New Hampshire. The picnic area is on a 1,820-foot plateau with outstanding views of the White Mountains to the north and the taller of the southern and central Vermont peaks. Mt. The 449'5" span that crosses the Connecticut River is truly a sight to see. The bridge happens to be the longest 2-span covered bridge in the world and the longest covered bridge in the country. But there is something special about this bridge; magical even. Perhaps it's the history that the wood breathes. Maybe it's the sign that reads "Walk your horses or pay two dollars fine," or the exquisite construction that has held the bridge together since 1866. Cross the bridge by car (turn your lights on), and you are deposited in Windsor, Vt., in minutes. How you get there — via this bridge; that's where the magic is. The Currier Museum of Art - the Currier is an internationally renowned art museum located in Manchester, NH. The museum is 30 minutes South of Inn, featuring American and European paintings, decorative arts, photographs and sculptures including works by Picasso, Monet, O'Keefe, and Wyeth, with exhibitions, tours and performances year round.
